Christ-Centered Homes

With a united purpose, King’s Home is dedicated to providing shelter, safety, resources, and support to abused Youth, Women, and Children, offering them a pathway to a brighter future.

Who We Are

At King’s Home, we have one united mission. One united purpose. To serve Christ by serving youth, women, and mothers with at-risk children. Now we have one united name. King’s Home. A place built on the solid foundation of Christ. A place where compassion resides, where love dwells, and where hope lives.

Our mission: King’s Home seeks to serve and glorify God by providing
Christ-centered homes and services in which compassion and competence combine to meet the needs of women, children, and families.

Who We Serve

King’s Home serves youth, women, mothers, and children seeking refuge, hope, and help from abuse, neglect, abandonment, homelessness, and other extreme and impoverished conditions.

One hundred percent of King’s Home residents have been rendered homeless due to the devastating effects of abuse and domestic violence.

Along with spiritual development, we teach life skills and provide tangible services to help our residents heal from their devastating pasts, break the cycle of abuse, build healthy relationships, and become independent, productive members of our community.

King’s Home also offers support programs including King’s Stables, King’s Garden, Prodigal Pottery, King’s Home Collections and King’s Home Thrift along with counseling services.

Our History

King’s Home provides long-term, residential shelter, services, love, hope, and opportunity for abused youth, moms, and children in need. The program began in 1973 when “Bethany” Home was opened for homeless women. The King’s Ranch for abandoned, neglected, and abused youth was founded in 1976, and Hannah Home for abused women and children was opened in the 1980s.

In 1998, Hannah Homes merged with The King’s Ranch and is known today as King’s Home, Inc. continuing to serve “at-risk” populations escaping domestic violence and other extreme and impoverished conditions and circumstances.

In the Spring of 2014, King’s Home acquired Alabama Youth Homes. Now owning/operating 21 homes on six campuses in four Alabama Counties, King’s Home continues with its mission and purpose to provide hope and healing to abused youth, women, and children.

Meet Our President

Lew Burdette’s Testimony

“I grew up in Roanoke, a little town in east Alabama. I was your normal teenager.  My world at the time revolved around football, girls, and school. Momma made me go to church; Daddy made me go to work.  On Friday, December 27, 1974, my life as a happy and content high school sophomore was turned upside down.

It was two days after Christmas, and I was leaving work from my dad’s grocery store at about 6:00 that evening.  Though the store’s closing time was 8 pm, I convinced my dad to let me go early since I had a date with a gorgeous cheerleader from a neighboring school in Wadley, AL.  As I walked across the dark, back alley street behind our store, two young men pulled a gun on me and forced me into a car at gunpoint. They proceeded to tell me that they were kidnapping me for a ransom of $250,000, and wanted to know if my dad could get them the money that night. I knew this plan would not turn out well, but I had no idea of the events that would transpire…
